Jeff Garlin, born June 5, 1962, in Chicago, is an American actor, comedian, director, and writer. He is best known for his role as Jeff Greene, Larry David's manager and best friend, in the acclaimed HBO series *Curb Your Enthusiasm*, and for playing the patriarch Murray Goldberg in the sitcom *The Goldbergs*. His career began in the Chicago comedy scene, particularly with the improvisational troupe The Second City. In addition to his television roles, Garlin has voiced characters in successful animated films, including Captain B. McCrea in Pixar's *WALL-E* and the unicorn Buttercup in *Toy Story 3* and *Toy Story 4*. He has also written and directed independent films such as *I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With* (2006). For his work on *Curb Your Enthusiasm*, Garlin has received numerous Screen Actors Guild Award nominations as part of the cast and, as an executive producer, several Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series. In 2021, he left *The Goldbergs* following investigations into on-set misconduct.
