Jeff York
Jeff York, stage name of Granville Owen Scriven (1912-1995), was an American actor, active primarily during the 1940s and 1950s. Known for his imposing stature and screen presence, his career became inextricably linked with Walt Disney Productions, for which he became a familiar face. Among his most celebrated performances are the role of Bud Searcy in the classic *Old Yeller* (1957) and its sequel, *Savage Sam* (1963), and that of Mike Fink, the "King of the River," in the popular *Davy Crockett* television miniseries. In addition to his Disney films, he appeared in numerous westerns and in motion pictures such as *The Postman Always Rings Twice* (1946). His career was abruptly cut short in the late 1950s due to a severe back injury that caused permanent health problems. For his cinematic contributions, he was posthumously honored as a Disney Legend in 2003.
