Jerome Cowan (New York, October 6, 1897 – Encino, January 24, 1972) was an American actor whose prolific career spanned from Broadway theater to film and television. Known for his roles as a character actor, he often portrayed shrewd businessmen, lawyers, or slightly frustrated authority figures. His most memorable performances include his role as Miles Archer, Sam Spade's partner, in *The Maltese Falcon* (1941), and as District Attorney Thomas Mara in the Christmas classic *Miracle on 34th Street* (1947).
