Ji-an Zheng
Ji-an Zheng, born in 1962, is a Chinese aerospace engineer and a leading figure in the nation's space program. His career is closely linked to the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), where he has led the development of crucial launch systems. He served as chief designer for several generations of Long March rockets, including the Long March 7, an essential vehicle for the construction and resupply of the Chinese Tiangong space station. His contribution was also instrumental in the success of the Chang'e lunar exploration program and the Shenzhou crewed missions. In recognition of his scientific and technological impact, Zheng was elected a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Among his many accolades is the 2016 State Supreme Science and Technology Award, the highest scientific honor conferred in China, a testament to his fundamental role in advancing the country's space capabilities.
