Joachim Fuchsberger (1927-2014) was a German actor, television host, and showman, one of the most popular figures in German entertainment for over fifty years. His film career took off in the 1960s, when he became the iconic face of the crime films based on the novels of Edgar Wallace, often playing the role of the inspector in highly successful films such as "Der Frosch mit der Maske" and "Das Gasthaus an der Themse". He later consolidated his fame on the small screen, hosting hugely popular television shows for decades, including "Auf Los geht's los" and "Heut' abend". He was also the official announcer during the opening ceremony of the 1972 Munich Olympics. For his long and influential contribution, he received Germany's highest honors, including several Bambi awards, the Goldene Kamera, and the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
