Joan Bennett

Joan Bennett (1910-1990) was an American actress whose career spanned from silent films to television. Initially known for her roles as a blonde ingenue in films such as *Little Women* (1933), her image underwent a radical transformation in the 1940s when she became an iconic brunette femme fatale. This crucial phase was marked by her collaboration with director Fritz Lang, for whom she starred in film noir masterpieces such as *The Woman in the Window* (1944) and *Scarlet Street* (1945). She also worked with other masters such as Jean Renoir and Max Ophüls. After a scandal compromised her Hollywood career in the 1950s, she found new success in theater and on television, particularly in the cult series *Dark Shadows*. Her last notable appearance was in Dario Argento's film *Suspiria* (1977). For her contribution to the film industry, she was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
