
Joanna Gleason
Joanna Gleason, born in Toronto on June 2, 1950, is a Canadian-American actress and singer, known primarily for her prolific stage career on Broadway. Her most celebrated role is that of the Baker's Wife in the original production of Stephen Sondheim's musical *Into the Woods* (1987), a performance for which she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 1988. She received other Tony nominations for the plays *A Day in the Death of Joe Egg* (1985) and the musical *Dirty Rotten Scoundrels* (2005), as well as several Drama Desk Awards. Her film career includes collaborations with Woody Allen in *Hannah and Her Sisters* (1986) and *Crimes and Misdemeanors* (1989), and roles in films such as *Boogie Nights* (1997) and *The Wedding Planner* (2001). On the small screen, she has appeared in numerous series, including *The West Wing*, *Friends*, and *The Good Wife*, solidifying her reputation as a versatile character actress.
