Joey Kaye
Joey Kaye, born Joseph D'Ambrosio (1927-1961), was an American saxophonist, best known as a member of the band Bill Haley & His Comets during their most successful period. Joining the lineup in 1953, Kaye played tenor saxophone, and his energetic style helped define the pioneering sound of rock and roll. His performances and distinctive solos are featured on iconic hits such as "(We're Gonna) Rock Around the Clock," "Shake, Rattle and Roll," and "See You Later, Alligator," which topped charts worldwide. He left the band at the end of 1955 to pursue his musical career with other projects, but his impact remained indelible. For his fundamental contribution to music, he was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 along with the other original members of the Comets, a recognition that cemented his role in the history of the genre.
