Jon Anderson, born John Roy Anderson on October 25, 1944, is an English singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the co-founder and lead vocalist of the progressive rock band Yes. His distinctive countertenor voice and mystical and spiritual lyrics became a hallmark of the band's sound. A central figure in Yes since their formation in 1968, he was the main songwriter on iconic albums such as *Fragile*, *Close to the Edge*, and *Tales from Topographic Oceans*. Concurrently, he developed a prolific solo career, beginning with the album *Olias of Sunhillow* (1976), and formed successful collaborations, most notably the duo Jon and Vangelis. After several splits and reunions with Yes, he also contributed to the commercial success of the album *90125* and led projects such as Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe. His accolades include an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Yes in 2017 and a Grammy Award won with the band for the instrumental track "Cinema".
