John Barrymore, born John Sidney Blyth, was a celebrated American actor, a member of the renowned Barrymore theatrical dynasty, and known by the nickname "The Great Profile". His career began on stage, where he gained enormous acclaim for his Shakespearean performances, particularly his portrayal of Hamlet, which is considered one of the greatest of the 20th century. He successfully transitioned to silent film, distinguishing himself in movies such as *Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde* (1920), where his physical and psychological transformation was highly praised. With the advent of sound, he solidified his fame with iconic films such as *Grand Hotel* (1932), *Dinner at Eight* (1933), and the comedy *Twentieth Century* (1934). Despite a professional decline in his later years, exacerbated by alcoholism, his influence and talent remain a benchmark in the history of acting. His contribution was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
