John David Hannah, born in East Kilbride, Scotland, on April 23, 1962, is a Scottish film, television, and theatre actor. After graduating from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, he gained international fame in 1994 with his role as Matthew in the film *Four Weddings and a Funeral*, a performance that earned him a BAFTA Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. His film career includes notable roles in films such as *Sliding Doors* (1998) and *The Mummy* trilogy (1999-2008), in which he played the character of Jonathan Carnahan. In television, he is known for being the first actor to portray Inspector John Rebus in the eponymous series, and for his roles as Quintus Lentulus Batiatus in the television series *Spartacus* and Holden Radcliffe in *Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.*.
