
John Lynch
John Lynch (1927-2018) was an eminent British historian, considered one of the foremost experts on the history of Latin America, with a particular focus on the Spanish Empire and the independence processes. He held the chair of Latin American History at the University of London, where he directed the prestigious Institute of Latin American Studies for over a decade. His extensive historiographical output includes seminal works such as *The Spanish American Revolutions 1808-1826* and definitive biographies of figures like Juan Manuel de Rosas and Simón Bolívar. His studies, based on meticulous archival research, provided in-depth analyses of the administrative, economic, and political structures of the Hispanic world. For his exceptional contribution to historiography, he was awarded numerous international honors, notably that of Commander of the Order of Isabella the Catholic, bestowed upon him by the King of Spain.
