
John Magaro
John Magaro is an American actor born on February 16, 1983, in Akron, Ohio. After studying theater, he began his career with roles in television and film. He landed his first leading role in the 2012 film *Not Fade Away*, directed by David Chase, where he played a young musician. His career continued with appearances in acclaimed films such as *Carol* (2015) by Todd Haynes and *The Big Short* (2015) by Adam McKay. His role as "Cookie" Figowitz in Kelly Reichardt's film *First Cow* (2019) earned him critical acclaim and nominations for prestigious awards, including the Gotham Independent Film Award and the Independent Spirit Award for Best Actor. His recent work includes the film *Past Lives* (2023). Magaro is also active in television, with roles in series such as *Orange Is the New Black* and *The Umbrella Academy*, and has a solid theater career, having also performed on Broadway.
