
John Mahoney
John Mahoney (1940-2018) was a British-American actor. He began his professional career relatively late, joining Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company at the invitation of John Malkovich. His work on Broadway earned him a Tony Award in 1986 for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his performance in "The House of Blue Leaves." He is universally recognized for the role of Martin Crane, the father of the Crane brothers in the acclaimed sitcom "Frasier" (1993-2004), a performance that earned him two Emmy Award nominations, two Golden Globe nominations, and a Screen Actors Guild Award win as part of the ensemble cast. His filmography includes notable titles such as "Moonstruck," "Say Anything...," "Barton Fink," and "Primal Fear." He was also a respected voice actor in animated films such as "The Iron Giant" and "Atlantis: The Lost Empire," demonstrating his remarkable artistic versatility across theater, film, and television.
