
John McIntire
John McIntire (1907-1991) was an American actor, known for his deep, gravelly voice and his prolific career, particularly in the Western genre. He began his career in radio, establishing himself as a versatile performer before transitioning to the big screen. In film, he distinguished himself in supporting roles in classic films such as *The Asphalt Jungle* (1950), *Winchester '73* (1950), and most notably as Sheriff Al Chambers in Alfred Hitchcock's *Psycho* (1960). However, his fame is primarily linked to television: from 1961 to 1965, he starred in the series *Wagon Train*, playing wagon master Christopher Hale, replacing the late Ward Bond. Subsequently, he joined the cast of *The Virginian* in the role of ranch owner Clay Grainger. He often worked alongside his wife, actress Jeanette Nolan, and lent his voice to animated productions such as *The Rescuers* (1977). For his contribution to the entertainment industry, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
