
John Meillon
John Meillon (1934-1989) was a prolific Australian actor of film, theatre, and television. He achieved international fame portraying Walter "Wally" Reilly, Paul Hogan's business partner, in the highly successful films *Crocodile Dundee* (1986) and *Crocodile Dundee II* (1988). His career includes numerous other notable performances, including roles in critically acclaimed films such as Nicolas Roeg's *Walkabout* (1971) and *The Picture Show Man* (1977). For the latter performance, he won the Best Supporting Actor award from the Australian Film Institute (AACTA Award). Also a highly respected theatre actor, in 1979 he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his contribution to the dramatic arts, a testament to his status as a leading figure in Australian culture.
