John Rodney, born Walter John Rodney (Brooklyn, March 7, 1921 – New York, October 16, 1996), was an American actor. His career, active from the late 1940s to the mid-1980s, spanned film, television, and theater. He is best known for his debut role in the film noir *Key Largo* (1948), where he played the gangster Ziggy. For this performance, he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, the only major recognition of his career. Throughout his film career, he often played tough characters, criminals, or antagonists, appearing in films such as *The Mob* (1951) and *The Joe Louis Story* (1953). He was also very prolific in television, guest-starring in numerous successful series, particularly in the western genre, including *Bonanza*, *Gunsmoke*, and *The Rifleman*, consolidating his reputation as a versatile and impactful character actor.
