John Victor Shea, born April 14, 1949, in North Conway, New Hampshire, is an American actor, director, and screenwriter. His career, which began successfully on stage, saw him win a Theatre World Award for his Broadway performance in "Yentl." On the big screen, one of his most significant roles was as Charles Horman in Costa-Gavras' 1982 film "Missing." In television, he is widely known for playing the antagonist Lex Luthor in the first season of "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" and the character Adam Kane in the series "Mutant X." His performance in the 1988 miniseries "Baby M" earned him an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor. His other works include the recurring role of Harold Waldorf in "Gossip Girl" and directing independent films such as "Southie" (1999). His versatility has made him a recognizable face across film, television, and stage for over four decades.
