Jone Frigerio
Jone Frigerio (born in Rome on January 11, 1877; died in Fara in Sabina on January 1, 1963) was an Italian stage and screen actress. She began her career on the stage, establishing herself as one of the most acclaimed theater actresses of the early twentieth century and working alongside great performers such as Ermete Zacconi and Ruggero Ruggeri. She made her film debut later in life, quickly becoming one of the most sought-after character actresses in Italian cinema during the 1930s and 1940s. Specializing in roles as a noblewoman, mother, or elderly governess, she delivered memorable performances in films such as *La cena delle beffe* (1942) by Alessandro Blasetti, *Un colpo di pistola* (1942) by Renato Castellani, *I promessi sposi* (1941) in the role of Perpetua, and *Eugenia Grandet* (1946). In 1946, she was awarded a Special Nastro d'Argento for the body of her work in film, in recognition of her significant artistic contribution.
