
José Quaglio
José Quaglio (Anguillara Sabazia, February 28, 1926 – Rome, January 8, 2007) was an Italian actor and director. Trained at the "Silvio D'Amico" National Academy of Dramatic Arts, he established himself as a prominent figure in post-war Italian theatre, collaborating with masters such as Luchino Visconti, Giorgio Strehler, and Luca Ronconi. In parallel, he developed a significant career as a theatre director, often focusing on experimentation and the avant-garde. In cinema, he was a respected character actor, appearing in over fifty films by directors of the caliber of Federico Fellini (in "La Dolce Vita" and "8½"), Bernardo Bertolucci ("The Conformist"), and Francesco Rosi. His extensive work also included numerous successful television dramas. His career was crowned with important accolades, including the IDI Award for Best Director, which attested to his role as a cultured and multifaceted artist, able to move with ease between the stage and the big screen, leaving an indelible mark on the Italian cultural landscape.
