Jules Cowles (1877-1943) was an American character actor, primarily active during the silent film era. Known for his imposing physical presence, he was often cast in roles as tough characters, antagonists, or authority figures. His career is associated with iconic films of the period, most notably his memorable performance in Charlie Chaplin's *The Kid* (1921), where he played the truck driver who attempts to take the child away.
