
Jules Munshin
Jules Munshin (New York, February 22, 1915 – New York, February 19, 1970) was an American actor, comedian, and dancer, best known for his roles in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer musicals. He began his career on Broadway, achieving notable success with the revue *Call Me Mister*. His most famous role was that of the sailor Chip in the classic *On the Town* (1949), where he formed a memorable comedic and dancing trio alongside Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra. The trio reunited for *Take Me Out to the Ball Game* (1949). His filmography also includes significant parts in *Easter Parade* (1948), as the maître d', and in the musical *Silk Stockings* (1957). Although he did not receive any major awards, his contribution as a comedic character actor during the golden age of Hollywood musicals is widely recognized. He concluded his career alternating between the stage and numerous television appearances.
