Julian Bleach is a British actor, born in 1963, known for his portrayals of eccentric, grotesque, and antagonistic characters, often characterized by intense physicality and the use of prosthetic make-up. He is internationally known primarily for his role as Davros, the creator of the Daleks, in the television series *Doctor Who*, a character he has portrayed since 2008, reprising the role on several occasions. He has also played the Nightmare Man in the spin-off *The Sarah Jane Adventures*, Niccolò Machiavelli in the series *The Borgias*, and the Collector in an acclaimed episode of *Inside No. 9*. His stage career is equally significant, featuring a long collaboration with the company Complicité and the role of the Master of Ceremonies in the cult musical *Shockheaded Peter*, for which he received a nomination for the prestigious Laurence Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical.
