Kamel El Basha is a Palestinian actor and theater and film director, born in Jerusalem in 1962. His career began primarily in theater, where he established himself as a prominent actor and director, working for decades with leading theater companies in Palestine and Israel. He achieved international fame in 2017 for his performance in the film *The Insult* by Lebanese director Ziad Doueiri. For his role as the Palestinian refugee Yasser Salameh, El Basha received the most prestigious award of his career: the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the 74th Venice International Film Festival, becoming the first Palestinian actor to receive this prize. Subsequently, he has continued to work in various international film and television productions, consolidating his reputation as a versatile actor with great expressive depth.
