Kanji Tsuda (津田 寛治, Tsuda Kanji, born August 27, 1965) is a Japanese actor and director. He began his film career in the early 1990s, becoming a recurring presence in the films of Takeshi Kitano, with whom he worked on iconic titles such as *Sonatine* (1993), *Kids Return* (1996), and the Golden Lion-winning *Hana-bi* (Fireworks) (1997). A versatile and prolific actor, his filmography includes collaborations with other prominent directors in contemporary Japanese cinema, including Sion Sono (*Suicide Club*, 2001) and Kiyoshi Kurosawa (*Cure*, 1997). His consistent presence in both independent and mainstream productions has made him one of the most recognizable figures in the industry. In addition to acting, he has also made his directorial debut. Appreciated for his ability to portray a wide range of characters, often in supporting roles, Tsuda is a respected figure and a mainstay of modern Japanese cinema and television, despite not having received major international awards.
