Karin Dor (born Kätherose Derr; 22 February 1938 – 6 November 2017) was a German actress. She rose to great popularity in Germany in the 1960s, becoming one of the most beloved leading ladies in films adapted from the novels of Edgar Wallace and Karl May, often directed by her then-husband Harald Reinl. Her international fame is primarily associated with two iconic roles. She was the first German Bond girl, portraying the spy Helga Brandt in *You Only Live Twice* (1967) alongside Sean Connery. Subsequently, she was cast by Alfred Hitchcock for the role of the Cuban revolutionary Juanita de Cordoba in his thriller *Topaz* (1969). Her career also continued successfully in television and theatre, consolidating her status as an icon of German cinema. Among her accolades is the prestigious Bambi Award, which she received in 1964 as Most Popular Actress.
