Karl-Arne Bergman
Karl-Arne Bergman (1918–1995) was a Swedish designer and artist, a leading figure in 20th-century glass and ceramic design. His career is inextricably linked to the Kosta Boda group, specifically the Åfors glassworks, where he served as artistic director from the 1950s. His style is distinguished by organic and sculptural forms, a bold use of color, and experimentation with new techniques. His most celebrated creations include the "Tulpan" (Tulip) glass series and the colorful "Pop" series from the 1960s, which capture the spirit of the era. The significance of his contribution to Scandinavian design was recognized early on when he was awarded the prestigious Lunning Prize in 1955. His works, displayed in international museums such as the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, are considered emblematic of post-war Swedish modernism and continue to be highly valued by collectors worldwide.
