Karl Michael Vogler (Remscheid, August 28, 1928 – Seehausen am Staffelsee, December 9, 2009) was a German actor. After studying art history and German studies, he began his career on the stage, establishing himself in major German-speaking theaters. His film debut occurred in the late 1950s, but he achieved international fame in the 1960s through roles in Hollywood productions. He is best known for portraying the Luftwaffe officer von Luger in *The Great Escape* (1963), Commander Otto Heidemann in *The Blue Max* (1966), and Field Marshal Erwin Rommel in *Patton* (1970). In Germany, he became a very popular face on television, particularly as the star of the adventure series *Kara Ben Nemsi Effendi* and the TV movie *Die Gentlemen bitten zur Kasse*. His long and versatile career was honored with prestigious awards, including the Bambi Award in 1969 and the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
