Karl-Robert Lindgren (1936-2021) was a Swedish Army general whose career was distinguished by key command positions and strategic roles. His rise through the military ranks included international experience as a United Nations observer in the Middle East, before culminating in his appointment as Chief of the Army Staff from 1990 to 1992. Subsequently, from 1992 to 1996, he served as the Military Commander of the Southern Military District, one of the most prestigious commands in the Swedish Armed Forces. During his service, Lindgren contributed to the reorganization of the army during the sensitive post-Cold War period. For his merits, he was awarded numerous decorations, including the Commander Grand Cross of the Order of the Sword. He was also an esteemed member of the Royal Swedish Academy of War Sciences, a testament to his intellectual contribution to national defense.
