Katherine "Kathy" Burke, born in London on June 13, 1964, is a British actress, comedian, director, and screenwriter. Her career took off in the 1990s through her collaborations with comedian Harry Enfield, playing iconic characters such as Waynetta Slob. Subsequently, she achieved immense popularity with the role of Linda La Hughes in the sitcom *Gimme Gimme Gimme* (1999-2001), for which she won a British Comedy Award. On the big screen, her most acclaimed performance is in the drama film *Nil by Mouth* (1997), directed by Gary Oldman. For this performance, she won the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival, an accolade that consolidated her international reputation. Her filmography also includes titles such as *Elizabeth* (1998) and *Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy* (2011). In recent years, Burke has focused primarily on theatre direction, directing numerous successful productions in London's West End and demonstrating her great artistic versatility.
