Katrin Cartlidge (15 May 1961 – 7 September 2002) was a British actress, known for her intense and courageous performances in art-house cinema. She became a prominent figure through her artistic partnership with director Mike Leigh, for whom she starred in acclaimed films such as *Naked* (1993), *Career Girls* (1997), and *Topsy-Turvy* (1999). Equally significant was her collaboration with Lars von Trier, who directed her in *Breaking the Waves* (1996), in the role of Dodo, and in *Dancer in the Dark* (2000). Her performance in *Breaking the Waves* earned her numerous accolades, including the prestigious Bodil Award. Her filmography also includes internationally renowned works such as Milcho Manchevski's *Before the Rain* (1994), the Oscar-winning *No Man's Land* (2001) by Danis Tanović, and the Hollywood production *From Hell* (2001). Her promising career was tragically cut short by her sudden death at the age of 41.
