Katsunosuke Hori

Katsunosuke Hori, born in Tokyo on August 1, 1941, is a Japanese actor, voice actor, and narrator. A member of the prestigious Bungakuza theatre company since 1965, he has built a solid career both on stage and in the world of voice acting. He is internationally known primarily for lending his deep, authoritative voice to iconic animated characters, most notably Captain Harlock in the 1978 series of the same name, Tōru Rikiishi in *Ashita no Joe* (Rocky Joe), and the monk Jigo in Hayao Miyazaki's *Princess Mononoke*. In addition to anime, Hori is famous for being the official Japanese voice of actor Al Pacino, dubbing his roles in numerous film productions. He has also voiced other major actors such as Robert De Niro and Tommy Lee Jones. For his significant and long-lasting contribution to the voice acting industry, he was honored with the Merit Award at the 5th Seiyu Awards in 2011, one of the highest accolades in the field in Japan.
