Kaycee Moore

Kaycee Moore was an American actress, best known for her central role in the L.A. Rebellion film movement. Her career is inextricably linked to the works of director Charles Burnett, for whom she delivered memorable performances in films considered milestones of independent African-American cinema, such as *Killer of Sheep* (1978), as the protagonist's wife, and *My Brother's Wedding* (1983). Her most acclaimed performance was in *Bless Their Little Hearts* (1984), written by Burnett and directed by Billy Woodberry. For this role, characterized by great emotional intensity and realism, she shared the Best Actress award at the 1984 Berlin International Film Festival. She also appeared in another iconic film of the period, Julie Dash's *Daughters of the Dust* (1991). Her naturalistic acting style and her ability to embody the complexity of African-American women's lives with strength and dignity made her a pivotal figure in American independent cinema.
