Kazumi Nozaki
Kazumi Nozaki, born in Hiroshima in 1946, is a Japanese manga artist known for her commitment to depicting the consequences of war. As a *hibakusha*, an atomic bomb survivor, she has dedicated much of her career to conveying the historical memory of this event through her works. Her most famous and influential work is the autobiographical manga *Ushiro no Shōmen Daare* ("Who's Behind You?"), in which she describes with great sensitivity her experience as a child during and after the explosion. Her artistic style is distinguished by its ability to blend the typical aesthetics of *shōjo* manga with the treatment of profound and mature themes such as loss, resilience, and the pursuit of peace. For her significant artistic and testimonial contribution, she was awarded the prestigious Japan Cartoonists Association Award. Her works are considered an essential document for educating new generations and promoting a universal message of non-violence.
