Kirsten Sheridan
Kirsten Sheridan, born in Dublin in 1976, is an Irish director and screenwriter, and the daughter of the acclaimed director Jim Sheridan. She made her directorial debut in 2001 with the film *Disco Pigs*, an adaptation of the eponymous play by Enda Walsh, which received positive critical reception. Her international success is primarily linked to the screenplay for the film *In America* (2002), which she co-wrote with her father, Jim, and her sister, Naomi. For this work, the Sheridan family received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. She later directed the musical drama *August Rush* (2007), featuring an international cast, and the more experimental *Dollhouse* (2012), an improvisation-based drama that earned her accolades at several film festivals. Her work often explores themes of family, adolescence, and the search for identity, alternating between independent productions and larger-scale projects.
