Lajos Kovács
Lajos Kovács, born in Ózd on December 9, 1944, is one of Hungary's most prolific and respected actors. His career, which began in the late 1970s, spans theater, film, and television, solidifying his reputation as a versatile character actor. He achieved international recognition with prominent roles in critically acclaimed films, such as the cult film *Kontroll* (2003) by Nimród Antal, in which he plays Inspector Béla. His collaborations with director Béla Tarr are also significant, particularly in *Werckmeister Harmonies* (2000) and *The Man from London* (2007), works that highlighted his profound dramatic intensity. His talent has been recognized with numerous national awards. Among the most prestigious are the Jászai Mari Prize, received in 1995, and the Kossuth Prize, Hungary's highest state honor for the arts, awarded to him in 2018 in recognition of a career of great artistic value.
