Laly Soldevila
Eulalia Soldevila i Vall, known as Laly Soldevila (Barcelona, July 25, 1933 – Madrid, September 12, 1979), was a Spanish film and theater actress. A character actress of great popularity in the 1960s and 1970s, she was distinguished by her high-pitched voice and an innate comedic talent that made her a familiar face in Spanish comedy of the period. Her prolific film career includes over one hundred films, in which she often played the roles of a maid or an eccentric spinster. She worked with the most important Spanish directors, becoming a constant presence in the cinema of Luis García Berlanga, with whom she collaborated on seminal works such as *El verdugo* (1963), *Vivan los novios!* (1970), and *La escopeta nacional* (1978). Her other notable works include *La gran familia* (1962) and Carlos Saura's *El jardín de las delicias* (1970), for which she received the Sindicato Nacional del Espectáculo Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her career was equally significant in theater. Her premature death at the age of 46 abruptly cut short an artistic career at the peak of its success.
