Lane Chandler
Lane Chandler, the stage name of Robert Chandler Oakes, was a prolific American actor whose career spanned from the silent film era to the television era. After first gaining fame as a leading man in numerous B-Westerns in the late 1920s, he soon became one of the most recognizable faces in the genre. With the decline of the "singing cowboys," Chandler reinvented himself as a reliable character actor, accumulating a filmography of over 350 credits. He appeared in roles, often uncredited, in major productions such as *Gone with the Wind* (1939) and in several epic films by Cecil B. DeMille, including *Samson and Delilah* (1949) and *The Ten Commandments* (1956). His career also continued extensively in television, with appearances in countless series, particularly westerns such as *Gunsmoke*, *Bonanza*, and *The Lone Ranger*. For his significant contribution to the motion picture industry, he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
