
Laura San Giacomo
Laura San Giacomo, born in 1962, is an American actress whose career took off in the late 1980s. She achieved international fame with her breakthrough role in Steven Soderbergh's independent film *Sex, Lies, and Videotape* (1989). Her performance as Cynthia Patrice Bishop earned her an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actress, as well as Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations. The following year, she solidified her popularity playing Kit De Luca, Julia Roberts' energetic friend, in the hit film *Pretty Woman* (1990). Her career also flourished in television, particularly as the star of the sitcom *Just Shoot Me!*, where she played journalist Maya Gallo from 1997 to 2003, a role for which she earned a second Golden Globe nomination. Her other significant works include the film *Quigley Down Under* and the television series *Saving Grace*.
