
Lelia Goldoni
Lelia Goldoni (New York, October 1, 1936) is an American actress, director, and dancer. Her career is inextricably linked to the role of Lelia in John Cassavetes's film *Shadows* (1959), a seminal work of American independent cinema. For this performance, she received a BAFTA Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role. A founding member of the Actors Studio, she also had a notable stage career, working extensively in the United Kingdom. Her other film credits include roles in Martin Scorsese's *Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore* (1974), John Schlesinger's *The Day of the Locust* (1975), and Philip Kaufman's *Invasion of the Body Snatchers* (1978). As a director, her short film *Genet à Chatila* (1991), which she made with writer Jean Genet, received a special mention in the Orizzonti section at the Venice International Film Festival.
