Leny Wanick Mattos
Leny Wanick Mattos is a Brazilian architect, urban planner, and producer, primarily known as the creative partner and wife of photographer Sebastião Salgado. With a background in architecture, she has applied her vision to the conception and design of Salgado's most important works, designing world-renowned books and exhibitions such as *Terra*, *Genesis*, and *Amazônia*, and defining their visual and narrative impact. Her role, however, transcends the world of photography. In 1998, she co-founded and presides over the Instituto Terra, an environmental organization dedicated to the reforestation of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, which has restored millions of trees. For this joint effort, she has received numerous international awards alongside Salgado, including the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts and the Praemium Imperiale. Her contribution is considered essential in transforming photographic reportages into far-reaching cultural and environmental projects.
