
Leon Janney
Leon Janney (1917-1980) was an American actor, best known for his successful career as a child actor during the early years of sound film. He rose to fame playing the character of Penrod Schofield in films such as *Penrod and Sam* (1931). His career continued into adulthood, spanning film, Broadway theater, and, notably, radio, where he became a very popular voice in numerous series such as *The Parker Family* and *Adventures of Ellery Queen*. His film credits also include *Old English* (1930) alongside George Arliss and, in a mature role, the Academy Award-winning film *Charly* (1968). Although he did not receive major individual awards, Janney was a figure recognized for his artistic longevity and his ability to successfully adapt to different expressive media, from the stage to the big screen and television, maintaining a constant presence in the entertainment world for over five decades.
