Levan "Leo" Gabriadze (born November 16, 1969, in Tbilisi) is a Georgian-Russian director and actor, and the son of the celebrated playwright, director, and artist Rezo Gabriadze. He gained lasting fame at a young age with his iconic role as Gedevan, "The Fiddler," in the Soviet sci-fi cult comedy Kin-dza-dza! (1986). Following this early acting career, he moved to the United States to study animation and design at UCLA. Upon returning to Russia, he became a prolific commercial director for Timur Bekmambetov's Bazelevs company. His feature film directorial debut, Lucky Trouble (2011), was followed by the international breakthrough that established him: the innovative screenlife horror film Unfriended (2014), produced by Bekmambetov, which became a massive global box office success. He also directed the biographical animated film Rezo (2017), a tribute to his father's life and art.
