Lili Rheims
Bettina Rheims, born in 1952 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, is an internationally renowned French photographer and artist, best known for her portraits and photographic series focused on female identity, sexuality, and androgyny. Her career took off in the 1980s, as she established herself with a style that is both provocative and intimate.
Among her most significant works are the series *Modern Lovers* (1990), an exploration of gender fluidity, and *Chambre Close* (1992), an intense reflection on voyeurism created in collaboration with writer Serge Bramly. Her project *I.N.R.I.* (1998), also with Bramly, garnered widespread media attention for its reinterpretation of episodes from the life of Christ in a contemporary context.
The author of the official portrait of French President Jacques Chirac, she has received major accolades, including the Grand Prix de la Photographie de la Ville de Paris in 1994 and the distinction of Commander of the Order of the Legion of Honor.
