Lois Maxwell
Lois Maxwell, born Lois Ruth Hooker (Kitchener, February 14, 1927 – Perth, September 29, 2007), was a Canadian actress, known internationally for playing the character of Miss Moneypenny in fourteen films of the James Bond series. She played this iconic role from the first installment, *Dr. No* (1962), to *A View to a Kill* (1985), alongside actors Sean Connery, George Lazenby, and Roger Moore. Her career, however, began well before her success with 007; after moving to the United Kingdom and studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, she won a prestigious award early in her career, receiving the Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer in 1948 for her performance in the film *That Hagen Girl*. In addition to her famous role, Maxwell participated in numerous other film and television productions over five decades, working in various genres and appearing in films such as Stanley Kubrick's *Lolita* and in television series such as *The Saint* and *The Persuaders!*.
