
Loleh Bellon
Loleh Bellon (Bayonne, 1925 – Le Kremlin-Bicêtre, 1999) was a French playwright and actress. She began her artistic career as an actress, joining the celebrated Compagnie Renaud-Barrault. Subsequently, she turned to playwriting with great success, becoming one of the most acclaimed voices in contemporary French theater. Her works, often autobiographical and intimate in nature, sensitively explore themes such as memory, family ties, loneliness, and the passage of time, focusing on complex female characters. Her most notable works include *Les Dames du jeudi* (1976), *Changement à vue* (1978), *L'Éloignement* (1987), and *Une absence* (1988). Her playwriting earned her numerous accolades, including two Molière Awards for Best Author: the first in 1990 for *L'Éloignement* and the second in 1998 for *Le voyageur immobile*, cementing her reputation as a master of psychological theater.
