
L.Q. Jones
Justus Ellis McQueen Jr., known professionally as L.Q. Jones, was an American actor, director, and producer, known for his roles as a character actor, especially in the Western genre. He adopted his stage name from the character he played in his 1955 film debut, *Battle Cry*. His career is inextricably linked to director Sam Peckinpah, with whom he collaborated on iconic films such as *Ride the High Country* (1962), *The Wild Bunch* (1969), and *Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid* (1973). A prolific actor, he appeared in over 160 productions, including Martin Scorsese's *Casino* (1995) and *The Mask of Zorro* (1998). As a director, he helmed the 1975 post-apocalyptic science fiction film *A Boy and His Dog*, which became a cult classic and won the Hugo Award. For his significant contribution to Western cinema, he was awarded the Golden Boot Award in 1994.
