Lucienne Marchand

Lucienne Marchand (1892-1993) was a French painter associated with the School of Paris. Married to the artist André Deslignères, she developed a solid career, regularly exhibiting her works in the most important Parisian Salons, including the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon d'Automne, and the Salon des Tuileries. Her Post-Impressionist style is distinguished by its sensitivity in the construction of light and its use of vibrant and harmonious color. Her favorite subjects included landscapes, particularly of Normandy and the South of France, still lifes, and portraits, characterized by a balanced composition and a profound serenity. Her art gained significant recognition, such as the prestigious Prix Blumenthal in 1926 and the acquisition of numerous canvases by the French state. Her works are now held in several public collections, including those of the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris and the museum of Honfleur, testifying to her significant role in French painting during the first half of the twentieth century.
