Sihung Lung (1930-2002) was a Taiwanese actor, known internationally primarily for his collaborations with director Ang Lee. His fame is linked to the role of the traditional patriarch he portrayed in Lee's unofficial "Father Knows Best" trilogy, consisting of the films *Pushing Hands* (1991), *The Wedding Banquet* (1993), and *Eat Drink Man Woman* (1994). In these works, he embodied the father figure grappling with the generational and cultural gap with great mastery and sensitivity. For his performances, he received major accolades, including two Golden Horse Awards, Taiwan's most prestigious film award: Best Actor for *Pushing Hands* and Best Supporting Actor for *The Wedding Banquet*. He collaborated with Ang Lee one last time on the Oscar-winning film *Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon* (2000), in the role of Sir Te, solidifying his status as an icon of Asian cinema.
