
Malcolm Terris
Malcolm Terris (Sunderland, 5 August 1941 – 6 December 2020) was a British actor, known primarily for his prolific television career. His most famous role was as Matt Headley in the BBC drama series *When the Boat Comes In*, a character he portrayed for the show's entire run from 1976 to 1981. His versatility led him to appear in numerous other iconic UK productions, including the soap operas *Coronation Street* and *Emmerdale*, and cult series such as *Doctor Who* (in the serial "The Horns of Nimon"), *The Sweeney*, and *The Bill*. On the big screen, he appeared in films such as *The First Great Train Robbery* (1978) and *Revolution* (1985). Also active in theatre, he worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Although he did not receive major awards, Terris was recognised as a reliable character actor and a familiar face to British audiences for over four decades.
